Team of the Week

North Carolina named CBI Team of the Week


After going 4-0 this past week, including a three-game sweep of top-ranked Virginia, North Carolina is the Team of the Week.


The Tar Heels started the week with a 7-2 decision over Appalachian State on Tuesday. UNC then blanked the Cavaliers 6-0 on Thursday. The Heels finished with a pair of one-run victories, 2-1 on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday.


Regional Teams of the Week


Northeast: Sacred Heart got three complete games in outscoring its opponents 25-4 in winning the Northeast Conference championship.


Southeast: Alcorn State went 4-0 in the SWAC tournament, beating Southern in the title game to earn its first SWAC crown and its first trip to the NCAA tourney.


Central: No. 5 Texas took two of three from No. 12 Texas A&M to claim a share of the Big 12 regular-season title and the top seed in the conference tournament.


West: Cal State Bakersfield swept a three-game set from No. 20 Fresno State.


Honorable Mention


Bethune-Cookman went 3-0 to win its sixth straight MEAC tournament.

Rice defeated Southland leader Texas State before taking two of three at Southern Miss to earn the top seed in the Conference USA tourney.

UNC Greensboro extended its win streak to eight with three shutouts at Wofford.

Creighton won at Iowa before sweeping three from Missouri State to win the MVC regular-season crown.

No. 15 Clemson defeated Davidson before taking two of three at No. 7 Florida State.

Illinois swept Indiana to earn the top seed in the Big Ten tournament.

Stony Brook went 4-0 against Albany to stretch its win streak to 11 and win the regular-season title in America East.

James Madison won three at Northeastern to take the CAA regular-season crown.

Belmont won at Tennessee before taking two of three at first-place Stetson to gain the final spot in the Atlantic Sun tournament.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi went 3-0 at Sam Houston State to earn the No. 3 seed in the Southland tourney.
