Team of the Week

USC named CBI Team of the Week

 

After winning its Pac-10 series at home against seventh-ranked Arizona State, USC is the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.

 

The Trojans posted a 5-1 victory in the series opener on Friday before the Sun Devils evened the series with a 7-4 win on Saturday. USC won the rubber game on Sunday with a 6-2 decision. It was the first series win for the Trojans against ASU since 2004.

 

Regional Teams of the Week

 

Northeast: Army beat Lafayette twice on Saturday to advance to the Patriot League Championship Series against top-seeded Navy.

 

Southeast: Winthrop won two of three in its Big South series with first-place Coastal Carolina, with both wins coming in extra innings.

 

Central: Indiana rebounded from a loss at Kentucky to sweep its Big Ten series against first-place Michigan State.

 

West: San Francisco went 3-0 against Pepperdine to keep the top spot in the West Coast Conference.

 

Honorable Mention

 

No. 6 Florida defeated UNF before taking two of three at second-ranked Vanderbilt.

Houston took two of three from first-place Southern Miss in Conference USA.

No. 12 Georgia Tech won at UIC and beat Savannah State before winning two of three against No. 14 North Carolina.

FIU won at Stetson before going 2-0-1 against Arkansas State to extend its unbeaten streak to 16 games.

Oral Roberts won at Wichita State before taking three of four from South Dakota State to move into a first-place tie in the Summit with the Jackrabbits.

UNC Greensboro won at High Point before sweeping three from The Citadel.

Penn State defeated Niagara and won at Pittsburgh before taking two of three from Minnesota.

Notre Dame went 3-0 against USF in battling for a Big East playoff spot.

Kent State won a doubleheader from Xavier before going 2-0 against Bowling Green.

Kennesaw State won at Western Carolina before sweeping a three-game set at UNF to rise to third in the Atlantic Sun.
