Team of the Week
Cal State Bakersfield named CBI Team of the
Week
After posting an impressive 6-0 week to extend its win streak to
10, Cal State Bakersfield is the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.
The Roadrunners began the week with a two-game sweep at home
against Valparaiso. CSUB then went to Surprise, Ariz., for the Coca-Cola
Classic. The Roadrunners started by beating No. 9 Arizona State on Thursday and
then defeated Kansas, Air Force and Northern Illinois to stretch their win
streak to 10.
Regional Teams of the Week
Northeast: Iona rebounded from an
0-6 start to the season by sweeping a three-game series at George Washington.
Southeast: Boston College went 3-0
at the Bethune-Cookman Invitational, defeating the host Wildcats, SIU
Edwardsville and Michigan State.
Central: Nebraska beat
Nebraska-Kearney before taking two of three from No. 5 UCLA, with all three
contests going extra innings.
West: Utah went 2-1 at the Houston
College Classic, topping No. 15 Texas A&M and Baylor before suffering a one-run
loss to Kentucky.
Honorable Mention
UT Arlington went 4-1, bouncing back
from a loss to No. 3 Oklahoma to beat Wichita State twice as well as Dallas
Baptist and New Orleans at DBU’s Tournament.
Tulane enjoyed a 4-1 week, taking
two from Northwestern State before winning two of three at Ole Miss.
No. 10 Texas won two of three at
home against No. 14 Stanford.
Long Beach State put together a 3-1
week, with a win over USC before taking two of three from No. 16 Oregon.
UIC won two of three at Missouri.
St. John’s headed to the deep South
and won two of three at Georgia Southern.
No. 3 Oklahoma won five away from
home, including at UT Arlington, two at San Diego State, at San Diego and
against Cal.
No. 13 Cal State Fullerton defeated
Loyola Marymount before sweeping a three-game set from USC.
Iowa went 4-2 with a win over
Southern Utah, a loss at Kansas, two wins against Mississippi State and a
two-game split with Georgia State.
Marist escaped the snow to sweep a
three-game series at Richmond..
