Team of the Week

UNC Greensboro named CBI Team of the Week

 

After going 4-0 this past week, including a Southern Conference sweep of Georgia Southern, UNC Greensboro is the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.

 

The Spartans started the week with a 10-3 victory over High Point on Wednesday. Over the weekend, UNCG won three at home against then-second place Georgia Southern. The Spartans edged the streaking Eagles 3-2 on Friday and 7-6 on Saturday before taking Sunday’s contest 8-3 to move into a tie for second in the SoCon with College of Charleston.

 

Regional Teams of the Week

 

Northeast: Villanova put together a 4-1 week, winning at Temple and defeating Delaware in the championship game of the Liberty Bell Classic before taking two of three from West Virginia in Big East play.

 

Southeast: No. 10 Florida State won two of three at No. 17 Miami (Fla.) to remain in first in the ACC Atlantic Division.

 

Central: No. 5 Texas defeated Texas State before winning two of three against No. 13 Oklahoma in Big 12 action.

 

West: No. 7 Oregon State won at Portland before taking two of three at No. 18 UCLA.

 

Honorable Mention

 

Florida Atlantic went 2-1 against first-place Troy in Sun Belt play.

Clemson enjoyed a 4-1 week, beating Furman and winning at Western Carolina before taking two of three ACC contests from No. 12 Georgia Tech.

No. 2 South Carolina topped Liberty before sweeping a three-game SEC set from Auburn.

No. 8 Arizona State won at Arizona before taking two of three from Pac-10 rival Stanford.

San Diego knocked off No. 11 Cal State Fullerton before sweeping Saint Mary’s to climb to third in the WCC.

Gardner-Webb won at Furman before sweeping three at Radford to extend its win streak to eight and rise to third in the Big South.

Hawaii won two of three at No. 14 Fresno State, the favorite to win the WAC.

USF rebounded from a loss at No. 17 Miami to win three against St. John’s in Big East play.

James Madison bounced back from a loss at VMI to sweep a three-game set from former CAA leader UNC Wilmington and move into a tie for first with Delaware.

Utah won at Utah Valley before sweeping a four-game Mountain West series at Air Force.
