Georgia named CBI Team of the Week


After posting a 5-0 week, Georgia is the Team of the Week.


The Bulldogs stumbled out of the gate this season, winning just three of their first 11 games. But Georgia rallied for midweek victories against Mercer and Alabama. The Bulldogs headed to the West Coast over the weekend for the Dodgertown Classic. Georgia won at No. 13 UCLA on Friday, at USC on Saturday and against Saint Mary’s on Sunday at Dodger Stadium to even its record at 8-8.


Regional Teams of the Week


Northeast: Stony Brook beat Fairleigh Dickinson during the week before an undefeated weekend at the Bojangles Classic, with two wins over both Michigan and host Winthrop.


Southeast: No. 7 Virginia beat Marshall at home on Tuesday before opening ACC action with a three-game sweep at No. 6 Clemson.


Central: Eastern Michigan went on the road to win two of three at Kansas.


West: California enjoyed a 4-0 week, defeating Santa Clara during the week before posting wins against Louisiana-Lafayette, No. 19 Rice and Long Beach State in the Cal Baseball Classic at AT&T Field in San Francisco.


Honorable Mention


No. 12 LSU beat Sacred Heart before a three-game home sweep of No. 10 Cal State Fullerton.

UNC Greensboro topped St. John’s before sweeping a three-game Southern Conference set from Western Carolina.

ETSU defeated Furman before taking three Atlantic Sun contests at UNF.

Samford rebounded from a loss at Jacksonville State to sweep a three-game SoCon series at defending champ The Citadel.

Louisville bounced back from a loss to Purdue to win three at Pepperdine.

Tulane took two of three at home from Wichita State.

Michigan State won four in Florida against Miami (Ohio), Yale, Akron and Pitt.

Bradley also had success in the Sunshine State by beating Toledo, Air Force and Massachusetts.

Liberty shook off a loss to William and Mary to win the Keith LeClair Classic, beating Rutgers, Monmouth and host East Carolina.

Gardner-Webb took two from St. John’s and two from Holy Cross to extend its win streak to eight.
