Yale named CBI Team of the Week

 

After going 5-0, including a four-game Ivy League sweep of first-place Dartmouth, Yale is the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.

 

The Bulldogs started the week with a 10-7 victory on Tuesday over Connecticut, the first-place team in the Big East. Yale would host the Big Green over the weekend. Dartmouth held a two-game lead over the Bulldogs in the Red Rolfe Division of the Ivy League prior to the start of the series. Yale won twice on Saturday by scores of 6-1 and 5-1. The Bulldogs completed the sweep on Sunday, 3-0 and 5-1, to take over the top spot in the division.

 

Regional Teams of the Week

 

Northeast: St. John’s swept a three-game Big East series from Louisville to stay within two games of first.

 

Southeast: NC State rebounded from a midweek loss to UNC Wilmington to sweep a three-game ACC set from sixth-ranked North Carolina.

 

Central: Central Michigan took two of three from MAC leader and preseason favorite Kent State.

 

West: No. 13 Oregon State went on the road and swept a three-game Pac-10 set at Stanford, its first-ever sweep of the Cardinal in California.

 

Honorable Mention

 

Oklahoma State took two of three from No. 12 Oklahoma in the Big 12 and Bedlam Series.

No. 16 UCLA defeated Long Beach State on Tuesday before taking two of three from No. 19 Arizona.

UNC Wilmington beat Campbell and won at NC State before sweeping a three-game series from William and Mary to move into first in the CAA.

Belmont won at Austin Peay before sweeping a three-game Atlantic Sun set from ETSU.

Elon won two of three from Southern Conference preseason favorite College of Charleston.

Florida Atlantic defeated UCF before sweeping a three-game Sun Belt set from ULM.

Ohio State won a doubleheader over Akron before taking two of three from first-place Michigan State.

Rice topped No. 7 Texas A&M before winning two of three from Tulane in Conference USA play.

Southeast Missouri won at Southern Illinois and at Saint Louis before sweeping a three-game set from UT Martin to move into a tie for first in the OVC.

Fordham defeated Long Island before sweeping a three-game from A-10 opponent George Washington.
