Florida is CBI Louisville Slugger Team of Week

 

Florida went 4-0 against Top 10 teams, including a three-game SEC sweep of No. 9 South Carolina. The Gators have been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Louisville Slugger Team of the Week.

 

Florida started its week with a 4-3 victory on Tuesday at seventh-ranked Florida State. The Gators welcomed the Gamecocks to town, winning 3-2 on Thursday, 4-3 on Friday and 14-5 on Saturday to push their overall record above .500 at 19-18.

 

Regional Teams of the Week

 

Northeast: Pittsburgh posted a 4-0 week, blasting Youngstown State 24-7 on Tuesday before sweeping a three-game Big East set from Notre Dame. The Panthers won 4-0 on Friday, 4-2 on Saturday and 12-3 on Sunday.

 

Southeast: Tennessee went 3-1 on the road, winning 4-3 at East Tennessee State before taking two of three at No. 13 Kentucky. The Vols rebounded from a 5-4 Friday loss to triumph 10-9 on Saturday and 5-0 on Sunday.

 

Central: Michigan State put together a 4-0 week, winning 10-1 against Western Michigan on Tuesday before sweeping a three-game Big Ten set from No. 14 Indiana. The Spartans had three walk-off wins, 2-1 in 11 innings on Friday, 6-5 in 10 innings on Saturday and a run in the bottom of the ninth in Sunday’s 6-5 victory.


West: Oregon was 4-0 on the road, beating sixth-ranked Oregon State 6-3 in a non-conference contest on Tuesday before sweeping a three-game Pac-12 series at California. The Ducks downed the Golden Bears 3-2 on Friday, 10-4 on Saturday and 5-4 on Sunday.

 

Honorable Mention

 

Bryant went 5-0 to extend its win streak to 18, beating Rhode Island before sweeping a four-game NEC set against Quinnipiac.

Baylor had a 3-1 week, topping UT Arlington before taking two of three from No. 9 Oklahoma in Big 12 play.

Omaha went 4-0 to stretch its win streak to eight, taking four at WIU to remain in first in the Summit.

Dartmouth had a 5-1 week, bouncing back from a loss at Boston College to win at Holy Cross and take four from Brown to put a stranglehold on first in the Ivy League’s Red Rolfe Division.

Mercer was 4-0, beating Alabama State before sweeping a three-game Atlantic Sun series from FGCU.

North Carolina had a 5-0 week, winning at Elon and besting Liberty before winning a three-game ACC set at Virginia Tech to extend its win streak to 10.

Mississippi State went 4-0, beating Ole Miss before sweeping a three-game SEC series at Texas A&M.

Saint Louis had a 3-1 week, topping SIUE before taking two of three from Horizon leader Milwaukee.

UNC Wilmington was 3-1, winning at Elon before taking two of three from Delaware to remain in first in the CAA.

The Citadel went 3-1, bouncing back from a loss at South Carolina to sweep a three-game Southern Conference series from first-place Georgia Southern.
