Oregon State named CBI Louisville Slugger Team of Week

 

Oregon State went 4-1, including a three-game Pac-12 sweep at defending national champion Arizona. The Beavers have been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Louisville Slugger Team of the Week.

 

OSU split a two-game midweek home set with San Francisco, falling 5-1 on Tuesday before winning 6-5 on Wednesday. The Beavers began Pac-12 play with a three-game sweep at Arizona, its first-ever sweep in Tucson. OSU won 6-2 on Friday, 4-3 on Saturday and 8-4 on Sunday.

 

Regional Teams of the Week

 

Northeast: Canisius headed to Athens and swept a four-game series at Ohio. The Golden Griffins took two on Friday, 12-0 and 10-7. Canisius won 16-8 on Saturday and completed the weekend with a 6-2 victory on Sunday.

 

Southeast: LSU put together a 3-1 week. The Tigers topped Nicholls 9-3 at home on Wednesday before taking two of three at No. 12 Mississippi State. LSU won 6-4 in 10 innings on Friday and 7-3 on Saturday before falling 10-2 on Sunday.

 

Central: Texas Tech had a 4-1 week. The Red Raiders won a pair of home games against Utah Valley, 9-2 on Tuesday and 6-0 on Wednesday. Tech won two of three at Texas to start Big 12 play, winning 1-0 on Friday and losing 2-1 on Saturday before taking the series with a 4-2 victory on Sunday.


West: Washington State started its Pac-12 schedule by taking two of three at No. 16 Arizona State. The Cougars pounded out a 15-4 win on Friday before dropping a 4-1 decision on Saturday. WSU won the series with an 11-8 triumph on Sunday.

 

Honorable Mention

 

Oklahoma had a 5-0 week at home, taking two from New Mexico State before sweeping a three-game set from Northwestern State.

Dartmouth remained unbeaten with three wins in Florida over Army, LIU Brooklyn and UAB.

Ole Miss went 4-1, winning twice at ULM before taking two of three from No. 15 Arkansas to kick off SEC action.

North Carolina A&T had a 3-1 week, beating Lehigh before taking two of three from MEAC-favorite Bethune-Cookman.

Cornell headed south and won two of three at Appalachian State.

Kentucky UK 3-1 2-1 at Florida, Ohio

Central Arkansas had a 3-1 week, beating Arkansas-Pine Bluff at home before taking two of three at Southern Miss.

Georgetown enjoyed a 4-0 week, beating UMBC before sweeping a three-game set from Princeton.

Towson went 4-1, defeating George Washington and losing to Penn before sweeping a three-game CAA set at Hofstra.

Tennessee Tech put together a 5-0 week, taking two from Northern Kentucky before sweeping a three-game OVC series from Morehead State.
