Florida Atlantic is CBI Louisville Slugger Team of Week

 

Florida Atlantic went 4-0, including a three-game Sun Belt sweep of first-place South Alabama. The Owls have been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Louisville Slugger Team of the Week.

 

FAU started its week with a 6-1 victory at Miami (Fla.) of the ACC on Wednesday. The Owls topped the nationally-ranked Jaguars 6-3 on Friday, 7-6 on Saturday and 3-0 on Sunday. Both Miami and South Alabama are ranked in the Top 12 in RPI (according to www.BoydsWorld.com)

 

Regional Teams of the Week

 

Northeast: Louisville went 3-1, rebounding from a loss at Indiana to sweep a three-game Big East set from nationally-ranked Notre Dame. The Cardinals lost 6-2 on Wednesday to the Hoosiers before beating the Fighting Irish 10-5 on Thursday, 2-1 on Friday and 10-5 on Saturday.

 

Southeast: Troy put together a 4-0 week, beating Auburn before sweeping a three-game Sun Belt set from Middle Tennessee. The Trojans thumped the Tigers 11-2 on Tuesday before downing the Blue Raiders 3-2 on Friday, 3-0 on Saturday and 5-3 on Sunday.

 

Central: Indiana enjoyed a 4-0 week, with a win over Louisville and a three-game Big Ten sweep at Iowa to extend its win streak to 15. The Hoosiers topped the Cardinals 6-2 on Wednesday before defeating the Hawkeyes 16-5 on Saturday while sweeping a Sunday doubleheader, 9-6 and 6-4.


West: Arizona State took two of three from nationally-ranked UCLA in Pac-12 play. The Sun Devils defeated the Bruins 4-1 on Thursday and 7-4 on Friday before UCLA avoided the sweep with a 12-10 decision on Saturday.

 

Honorable Mention

 

UC Riverside swept a three-game Big West set from UC Irvine.

Radford took two of three from Campbell, the first-place team in the Big South North Division.

Milwaukee swept a three-game Horizon series from preseason favorite Valparaiso in Chicago.

Penn put together a 4-0 week, winning at Lafayette in the first round of the Liberty Bell Classic before starting Ivy League play with two wins over Dartmouth and one over Harvard.

Georgetown took two of three USF in Big East action.

Northeastern had a 5-0 week, winning at Central Connecticut and beating Boston College before sweeping a three-game CAA set from James Madison.

UNC Greensboro went 3-1 at home, defeating North Carolina A&T before taking two of three from first-place Georgia Southern in Southern Conference play.

Bryant went 5-0, topping Boston College and sweeping a four-game NEC set at Fairleigh Dickinson to stretch its win streak to eight.

Hofstra had a 5-0 week at home, taking two from NYIT before sweeping a three-game CAA series from George Mason.

Delaware enjoyed a 4-0 week, beating Saint Joseph’s in the opening round of the Liberty Bell Classic before sweeping a three-game CAA set from Georgia State to extend its win streak to eight.
