Baylor named CBI Team of the Week

 

Baylor went 5-0 to extend its win streak to 24, including a three-game sweep over fifth-ranked Texas A&M. The Bears have been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.

 

Baylor started the week with a pair of home wins over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Bears bounced the Islanders 15-2 on Tuesday and 11-1 on Wednesday. Baylor hit the road and won at Texas A&M 5-3 on Friday. The Bears returned home and edged the Aggies 1-0 on Saturday and 7-5 on Sunday.

 

Regional Teams of the Week

 

Northeast: Army went 5-0 to stretch its win streak to nine. The Black Knights nipped Saint Peter’s 6-5 on Wednesday. Army swept a four-game Patriot League series from Bucknell, winning 1-0 and 2-1 on Friday and 8-0 and 2-1 in 15 innings on Saturday. The opener of Saturday’s DH was a no-hitter by Logan Lee. Army stayed undefeated in conference play at 16-0.

 

Southeast: Florida State went 4-0, starting with a 6-0 victory over North Georgia on Wednesday. The Seminoles swept a three-game ACC set from No. 15 Miami, winning 11-2 on Friday, 6-1 on Saturday and 8-7 in 10 innings on Sunday. FSU is 19-2 in conference play, with a six-game lead in the ACC Atlantic Division.

 

Central: Rice had a 3-1 week. The Owls were victorious at fifth-ranked Texas A&M 5-4 on Tuesday before taking two of three from East Carolina in Conference USA action. Rice won 2-0 on Friday and 6-2 in 10 innings on Saturday before dropping a 4-3 decision on Sunday.

 

West: Utah Valley swept a four-game Great West series from Texas-Pan American to extend its win streak to 19. The Wolverines won 12-5 on Friday, 7-0 and 11-1 on Saturday and 13-3 on Sunday to remain undefeated in conference play at 12-0.

 

Honorable Mention

 

Kentucky went 3-1, beating Cincinnati before taking two of three from No. 4 LSU in SEC action.

Stanford had a 3-1 week, rebounding from a loss to San Jose State to sweep a three-game Pac-12 set from Arizona State.

Georgia Tech went 3-1, topping Georgia State before taking two of three at seventh-ranked North Carolina in ACC action.

Purdue went 3-1 on the road, winning at UIC before taking two of three at Nebraska to stay in first place in the Big Ten.

Indiana State had a 3-1 week, beating Valparaiso before taking two of three from Dallas Baptist.

Oregon State won two of three from eighth-ranked UCLA in Pac-12 play.

Villanova went 3-1, defeating La Salle before taking two of three at Seton Hall in Big East action.

UNC Wilmington went 4-0 on the road, winning at East Carolina before sweeping a CAA series at Northeastern.

USC Upstate had a 4-0 week, winning at North Carolina A&T before sweeping an Atlantic Sun series against Jacksonville to extend its win streak to seven.

UCF went 4-0, defeating Florida Atlantic before sweeping a Conference USA series at Tulane.
