Texas A&M named CBI Team of the Week

 

Texas A&M went 4-0 with a three-game sweep of Oklahoma. The Aggies have been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.

 

Texas A&M started with a 4-3 win over UTSA on Tuesday. The Aggies pulled out three close games against the Sooners, winning 4-3 in 12 innings on Thursday, 5-2 on Friday and 5-3 on Saturday to move into a tie for second in the Big 12.

 

Regional Teams of the Week

 

Northeast: Cornell went 6-1, starting with a 5-2 Ivy League win over Dartmouth on Monday. The Big Red split a doubleheader at Canisius on Wednesday, taking the opener 5-4 before falling 7-3 in the nightcap. Cornell swept a doubleheader at Brown on Saturday, 10-9 in 11 innings and 12-5 in eight innings. The Big Red took two at Yale on Sunday, 5-3 and 8-6, to move into first in the Lou Gehrig Division.

 

Southeast: LSU put together a 3-1 week. The Tigers defeated Louisiana College 10-2 on Tuesday before taking two of three at top-ranked Florida. LSU won 7-6 on Thursday, was shut out 7-0 on Friday before winning the series with an 8-7 victory on Saturday.

 

Central: Sam Houston State went 4-0 to extend its win streak to 14. The Bearkats won 2-1 at No. 10 Rice on Tuesday before sweeping a Southland series with second-place Northwestern State. SHSU won 5-4 on Thursday, 4-3 in 11 innings on Friday and 5-3 on Saturday to open a four-game conference lead.

 

West: Arizona State swept a three-game Pac-12 set from No. 20 Oregon State. The Sun Devils won 8-2 on Thursday, 3-2 on Friday and 5-1 on Saturday.

 

Honorable Mention

 

Baylor swept a three-game series at Missouri to move to 12-0 in the Big 12 and extend its win streak to 14.

Miami (Fla.) rebounded from a loss to No. 14 UCF to sweep third-ranked North Carolina in a three-game ACC set.

Oregon took two of three at fifth-ranked UCLA.

Kentucky went 3-1, beating Dayton before taking two of three from No. 16 Ole Miss.

Appalachian State took two of three from College of Charleston in a battle of title contenders in the Southern Conference.

George Mason went 4-0 on the road, winning at Maryland before sweeping a three-game CAA set at VCU.

Cal Poly swept a three-game Big West series from UC Irvine.

Indiana State went 3-1, winning at UIC before taking two of three at Creighton.

Eastern Michigan bounced back from a loss to Michigan State to sweep a three-game series at Western Michigan, moving into first in the MAC Western Division.

Utah Valley defeated No. 7 Arizona before sweeping a four-game set from North Dakota to extend its win streak to 10.
