LSU stays unanimous No. 1 in CBI Composite Poll

Louisville & Texas A&M tied for second, UCLA falls to fourth, TCU stays fifth

 

After going 3-1 this past week, LSU stays in the top spot in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

 

CBI uses five national rankings in its composite poll: Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, D1baseball.com, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and USA Today Coaches Poll.

 

LSU is No. 1 for the third consecutive week. The Tigers defeated Alcorn State before taking two of three at Mississippi State. LSU is first in all five polls.

 

Louisville and Texas A&M tied for second. The Cardinals went 2-1, beating Kentucky before splitting a pair of games at Clemson. Louisville was second in two polls, third in one poll and fourth in the other two.

 

Texas A&M had a 4-0 week and moved into a tie for second. The Aggies defeated Texas State before sweeping a three-game set at Tennessee. Texas A&M was second in two polls, third in one poll and fourth in the other two.

 

UCLA went 2-2 and fell to fourth. The Bruins lost at Long Beach State before taking two of three from Gonzaga. UCLA was second in one poll, third in one poll and fifth in the other three.

 

TCU had a 3-1 week and stayed in fifth. The Horned Frogs lost at Dallas Baptist before sweeping three at West Virginia. TCU was third in one poll, fourth in one poll, fifth in two polls and sixth in the other.

 

No teams dropped out of the poll from last week. No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 6 Illinois and No. 8 Florida State all rose two places, while No. 11 Arizona State fell four spots.

 

The CBI Composite Poll contains four teams from the SEC, including three of the top six. There are three from the ACC and Pac-12, two from the Big Ten, Big 12, Conference USA and Missouri Valley, and one from the Big West and Colonial.
