Ole Miss Named CBI Team of the Week
 

Mississippi went 4-0 this past week, including a Southeastern Conference series sweep of No. 5 LSU, and was named CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.

 

The Rebels began the week with a 7-2 victory over Southern Miss on Tuesday. After a Friday night rainout, Ole Miss swept the Saturday doubleheader. The Rebels beat the Tigers 11-9 in the opener and 9-8 in 11 innings in the nightcap. Ole Miss completed the series sweep with a 7-6 decision on Sunday, moving into a second-place tie in the SEC West with LSU.

 

Honorable Mention goes to Connecticut, which put together a 6-0 week to extend its win streak to 21. The Huskies won at Fairfield, defeated Rhode Island and came out on top at Holy Cross before sweeping a three-game Big East series with Rutgers. No. 9 Coastal Carolina won at UNC Wilmington and swept a three-game Big South series at VMI to stretch its win streak to 17. No. 2 Texas topped UT Arlington before taking three from Oklahoma State to push its win streak to 16. No. 11 Florida won at USF before taking two of three from No. 6 Arkansas. Virginia Tech won at Radford prior to winning two of three at No. 3 Georgia Tech. Georgia State bounced back from a loss to Mercer to go 2-0-1 at first-place VCU in the CAA. Boston College defeated Northeastern for the Beanpot Championship before winning three at NC State to extend its win streak to eight. No. 8 Florida State beat Charleston Southern and took two of three from No. 13 Miami (Fla.). Stanford swept a three-game Pac-10 series from No. 18 California. Rice rebounded from a loss at Texas A&M to sweep a Conference USA series from East Carolina to maintain first place. Marshall beat Coppin State twice and UCF three times to hold second in Conference USA. North Carolina defeated Davidson before taking two of three at Clemson. Charlotte topped Wake Forest and NC Central before taking two of three from George Washington for first in the Atlantic 10. San Diego swept Gonzaga to stay undefeated at 9-0 in the West Coast Conference. Portland won at Washington before taking three at Pepperdine to push its WCC record to 11-1. Southeast Missouri State won at Southern Illinois and beat Harris-Stowe before winning two at Jacksonville State for first in the OVC. Cal State Fullerton beat Pepperdine before sweeping three from Cal Poly to hold first in the Big West. UC Irvine stopped San Diego State before winning three at UC Davis to stay in second in the Big West. South Alabama won two of three at Arkansas State to remain in first in the Sun Belt. New Mexico State won at San Jose State before sweeping a four-game set at Sacramento State to hold first place in the WAC. Texas State beat Baylor prior to taking two of three from Northwestern State to hold first in the Southland. Bryant swept a four-game series with Fairleigh-Dickinson to move into a first-place tie in the NEC. Bowling Green defeated Dayton and Western Michigan before winning three at Ohio.
