Kansas Named CBI Team of the Week

Kansas recorded four victories in five outings, including a series win at top-ranked LSU, to be named Team of the Week.


The Jayhawks started the week with a pair of home shutouts, blanking Saint Mary (Kan.) 10-0 on Tuesday and Tabor 15-0 on Wednesday. Kansas defeated LSU 11-9 on Friday, fell 4-2 on Saturday and came back to win 8-4 on Sunday.


Honorable Mention goes to No. 3 Virginia, which was victorious at William and Mary before winning its opening ACC series at No. 2 Florida State. No. 10 Louisville topped Indiana and went 2-1 at No. 18 Ole Miss. No. 12 UCLA stayed undefeated with a home win over UC Riverside and victories over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Mississippi State and No. 20 Oklahoma in the Whataburger College Classic. No. 4 Arizona State also stayed unbeaten with a win over Grand Canyon and a three-game home sweep of Auburn. No. 11 Clemson topped Gardner-Webb before sweeping its ACC series with NC State. Duke got two wins over Quinnipiac before taking two of three from No. 13 North Carolina. Nicholls State defeated LSU-Alexandria and took two from Lamar to extend its win streak to 11 before the Cardinals won Sunday’s Southland series finale. No. 8 TCU won at UT Arlington before sweeping a three-game set from Texas Tech. The Citadel defeated USC Upstate before sweeping a three-game Southern Conference series from Western Carolina. Southeastern Louisiana won at Southern before taking three Southland contests from UTSA. Miami (Ohio) got four wins in Florida against Lehigh, Yale, Rhode Island and Indiana. Kansas State went 4-0 at home against Kent State. Rutgers defeated NJIT before taking three at FIU. South Alabama went 1-1 against Tennessee Tech before sweeping a three-game Sun Belt series at UALR. Stephen F. Austin won at UALR before taking three Southland contests at Central Arkansas. Texas-Pan American won twice against Notre Dame. Florida Atlantic defeated Pittsburgh before winning two of three at Troy in Sun Belt play.
