Florida Named CBI
Team of the Week
With its three-game SEC sweep at No. 7 Georgia, Florida has been
named the CBI Team of the Week.
The Gators (16-8, 34-14) won 7-6 on Saturday before securing a
10-9 win in 11 innings in the completion of Friday’s suspended contest. Florida
completed the sweep with a 10-8 victory on Sunday. The Gators moved into first
place in the SEC Eastern Division and extended their win streak to eight.
Honorable mention goes to Louisiana Tech, which won a four-game
WAC series at first-place Hawaii after a victory Monday at Sacramento State.
Loyola Marymount won at Cal State Bakersfield before sweeping a three-game WCC
set against San Diego to move into a tie for first. Creighton won at South
Dakota State and at Iowa before sweeping a three-game MVC series at Illinois
State to extend its win streak to seven. Oregon State beat in-state rival Oregon
before taking two of three from third-ranked Arizona State in a Pac-10 series.
Dartmouth won two of three from Cornell to claim the Ivy League title. Elon
defeated East Carolina and North Carolina A&T before sweeping a three-game SoCon
set from Wofford to stretch its win streak to nine. College of Charleston topped
Coastal Carolina before sweeping a three-game SoCon series from Davidson.
Western Carolina won at Charlotte and defeated Tennessee Tech before sweeping a
three-game SoCon set at UNC Greensboro. Texas beat Texas State before taking
three Big 12 battles from No. 22 Baylor. Kansas State beat North Dakota twice
before taking a pair of Big 12 contests at Oklahoma State. LSU topped Tulane
before taking two of three at No. 8 Arkansas. Kansas took two from Chicago State
before winning two of three at No. 12 Oklahoma. Coastal Carolina rebounded from
a loss at College of Charleston to defeat Wake Forest and sweep a three-game Big
South series from first-place Liberty to move to the top of the standings.
Dayton won three at Duquesne to extend its win streak to 12. Albany bounced back
from a loss to Manhattan to sweep a four-game set from Maine to climb into
second in America East.
