Florida State stays on top of the CBI Composite Poll

Baylor moves up to second, South Carolina climbs to third, LSU fourth

 

After a 3-0 week, Florida State remained at No. 1 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

Baylor inched up a spot to second after a 3-1 week. The Bears split two games with UTSA before sweeping a pair at home from WAC leader New Mexico State. Baylor is first in one poll and second in the other three.

 

South Carolina climbed three places to third. The Gamecocks swept a three-game SEC series from Alabama. South Carolina is third in two polls, fourth in one and fifth in the other.

 

LSU went 3-1 and rose one spot to No. 4. The Tigers beat Southeastern Louisiana before taking two of three from Georgia. LSU is fourth in three polls and fifth in the other.

 

Kentucky went 1-3 and dropped to fifth. The Wildcats lost at Louisville before dropping two of three at Vanderbilt. Kentucky is third in two polls, sixth in one and seventh in the other.

 

North Carolina and Purdue both climbed three spots, with the Tar Heels at No. 12 and the Boilermakers at No. 13.

 

NC State and Louisville have returned to the poll, while Ole Miss and Miami have dropped out.

 

This week's poll includes five SEC teams and four from the Pac-12. There are three from the ACC, two from the Big 12 and Conference USA and single entries from the Big East, Big Ten, Big West and West Coast Conference.

* The American Baseball Coaches Association has ruled Arizona State ineligible for votes this season because of the school's NCAA postseason ban.
