Virginia remains No. 1 in CBI Composite Poll

Vanderbilt rises to second, South Carolina drops to third, Texas up to fourth

 

After a win and a weekend of exams, Virginia remains No. 1 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

 

The Cavaliers won 14-3 on Tuesday at VCU. Virginia was off the rest of the week for final exams. The Cavaliers are first in three polls and second in the other.

 

Vanderbilt went 2-1 to stay in second. The Commodores won their SEC series at Kentucky over the weekend. The Commodores are first in the NCBWA poll, second in two polls and third in the other.

 

South Carolina went 2-2 to fall to third. After winning at Wofford on Wednesday, the Gamecocks dropped two of three at Ole Miss. South Carolina is third in two polls and fourth in the other two.

 

Texas went 3-1 to move up two spots to No. 4. The Longhorns topped Prairie View A&M on Tuesday before winning two of three Big 12 contests at Nebraska. Texas is fourth in two polls, fifth in one poll and sixth in the other.

 

Oregon State went 2-2 to stay at No. 5. The Beavers lost to Oregon on Tuesday before taking two of three Pac-10 games from California. OSU is second in one poll, third in one poll, seventh in one poll and 10th in the other.

 

Two teams are new to this week's poll. Stetson enters at No. 19 and Arkansas returns at No. 20.

 

There are six ACC teams in this week's poll and four from the SEC. There are three teams from the Big 12 and the Pac-10. There are single entries from the Atlantic Sun, Big West, Conference USA and Mountain West.
