Florida is unanimous No. 1 in CBI Composite Poll

Vanderbilt climbs to second, Oklahoma is third, South Carolina rises to fourth

 

With four victories this past week, including a three-game home sweep of Boston College, Florida is the unanimous No. 1 team in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

 

The Gators defeated Florida Atlantic on Tuesday before wins over the Eagles on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Florida was first in all four national polls.

 

Vanderbilt went 3-1 this past week to climb one spot to No. 2. The Commodores beat Belmont on Wednesday before taking two of three from then-No. 10 Stanford. Vanderbilt is second in three polls and third in the other.

 

Oklahoma picked up five home wins to rise two places to third. The Sooners took two from Arkansas-Pine Bluff and three from Oakland. OU is second in one poll and third in the other three.

 

Defending national champion South Carolina earned three wins to bump up three spots to fourth. The Gamecocks swept a three-game home set from Southern Illinois. South Carolina is fourth in three polls and sixth in the other.

 

UCLA went 2-2 and fell from second to fifth. The Bruins beat Pepperdine on Tuesday before dropping two of three at home to San Jose State. UCLA is fifth in two polls, sixth in one and eighth in the other.

 

Florida State was the biggest riser, jumping five spots to No. 6. The Seminoles beat Jacksonville and took three from Hofstra.

 

There are two new teams in this week's rankings. Arkansas is 6-0 and checks in at No. 18, while UC Irvine brings a 7-0 mark to the No. 20 spot.

 

There are five teams from the SEC, including three of the top four. There are four teams from both the ACC and Pac-10. There are three Big 12 teams, two from the Big West and single entries from Conference USA and the Mountain West.
