GREENVILLE, N.C. – Sophomore right-hander Brad Mincey pitched his first career complete game and junior Kyle Roller belted two homers in an eight-run fifth as top-seeded eliminated fourth-seeded Binghamton 16-9 Sunday afternoon in front of 3,755 fans at Clark-LeClair Stadium.

The Pirates (44-18) face second-seeded South Carolina tonight at 6 p.m. ECU must beat USC twice to win the regional. The Bearcats finish the season at 30-22.

Mincey (10-5) allowed 11 hits and two earned runs with one walk and five strikeouts. He is the lone 10-game winner in Conference USA.

Roller had a leadoff homer off the light pole in right center to start the fifth and capped the rally with a two-run blast off the scoreboard in right center to give ECU an 11-7 lead.. Roller has 15 homers on the season and 38 for his career, the fifth-highest total in school history. Roller’s second dinger gave the Pirates 101 for the season, also a school record.

Austin Homan had a pinch-hit two-run single and Stephen Batts had a two-run double in the fifth for the Pirates.

ECU scored a pair in the top of the first, keyed by an RBI double by Roller. BU plated four unearned runs in the third. With one on and one out, a potential double play grounder was thrown wide at second, opening the flood gates for the Bearcats. After the Pirates got one in the top of the fourth, Ciocchi added a three-run double with two outs in the bottom of the frame, all unearned, to make it 7-3.
