North Carolina remains No. 1 in CBI Composite Poll

LSU rises to second, Oregon State stays in third, Vandy falls to fourth

 

After putting together another 3-0 week, North Carolina stays the unanimous No. 1 in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

 

The Tar Heels beat Princeton at home on Tuesday before winning twice at Boston College in ACC play. The finale of the series was canceled due to weather. UNC is first in all five polls.

 

LSU had a 4-0 week to climb two spots to second. The Tigers topped Northwestern State on Wednesday before sweeping a three-game SEC series from Auburn. LSU is second in three polls, third in one and fourth in the other.

 

Oregon State went 2-1 and remained in third. The Beavers took two of three at home from Pac-12 rival Arizona State. OSU is second in two polls, third in two polls and fifth in the other.

 

Vanderbilt split four games and fell two places to fourth. The Commodores lost at Middle Tennessee on Wednesday before taking two of three from SEC foe Florida. Vanderbilt is third in two polls, fifth in two polls and seventh in the other.

 

Florida State went 4-1 at home and rose three spots to No. 5. The Seminoles beat Stetson twice before taking two of three ACC contests from Georgia Tech.

 

Virginia was the big riser for the second straight week, climbing five places to No. 8. South Carolina fell 10 spots to No. 15.

 

Arkansas and Rice return to the poll at No. 12 and 19, respectively. Houston debuts in the poll at No. 20. Arizona State, Stanford and NC State all dropped from the poll.

 

The CBI Composite Poll contains seven teams from the SEC, including two of the top four. There are four from the ACC, three from the Pac-12, two from the Big East and Conference USA, and single entries from the Big West and Big 12.
