Taylor drives in game-winner as Texas A&M nips ACU

LSU tops Lamar, Miami edges UCF, ORU overwhelms Oklahoma State

 

No. 1 Texas A&M 3, Abilene Christian 2

In College Station, Texas, Logan Taylor had an RBI single to snap a 2-2 tie in the seventh as Texas A&M edged Abilene Christian. Taylor went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBI, while Blake Allemann was 3 for 5 with a double and two runs for the Aggies (34-3). Ty Schlottmann (3-1, 1.2 IP, K) earned the victory, while Mark Ecker (1 IP, H, K) notched his seventh save. Tyler Eager went 1 for 3 with a double, while Marcelle Carter sent 1 for 3 with one RBI for the Wildcats (8-26).

 

No. 2 LSU 11, Lamar 2

In Baton Rouge, La., Kade Scivicque and Chris Chinea both had two-run doubles in a six-run first as LSU thumped Lamar. Chinea homered and drove in four, while Andrew Stevenson had three hits and two runs for the Tigers (32-6). Kyle Bouman (1-1, 5 IP, 5 H, R, 3 K) earned the victory. Brendan Satran homered for the Cardinals (17-19).

 

No. 9 Miami 4, No. 16 UCF 2

In Coral Gables, Fla., Garrett Kennedy had a two-run single to snap a 2-2 tie in the seventh as Miami downed UCF. Willie Abreu homered for the Hurricanes (29-9). Michael Mediavilla (2-1, 0.2 IP, K) picked up the win, while Bryan Garcia fanned one in a hitless ninth for his eighth save. Tommy Williams went deep for the Knights (25-13).

 

Oral Roberts 15, No. 14 Oklahoma State 5

In Stillwater, Okla., Noah Cummings had a three-run homer to cap a nine-run second as Oral Roberts overwhelmed Oklahoma State. Audie Afenir (2 for 4, 3 R, 6 RBI) had a grand slam in a six-run third for the Golden Eagles (25-10). Dustin Williams went 2 for 5 with a homer, two runs and three RBI for the Cowboys (24-12).

 

No. 19 Iowa 9, Cornell College 1

In Iowa City, Iowa, Joel Booker went 2 for 3 with a double, three runs and two RBI as Iowa took care of Cornell College. The Hawkeyes (24-10) scored in four of their first six at-bats, including three in the third and four in the fifth. Wyatt Kurzejeski had a hit and a run for Rams (11-12).
