Kevin Courtney went 3 for 5 with a double and three RBI to lead Stony Brook to a victory over Hartford. Casey Baker went 2 for 4 with three RBI, while Kevin Krause went 2 for 4 with two RBI. Brandon McNitt (6.2 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 10 SO) earned the win for the Seawolves (35-16). Ryan Lukach went 2 for 5 with an RBI for the Hawks (31-22).

 

Shaun McGraw homered for Binghamton in its win against Maine. McGraw went 2 for 4 with two RBI, while Eddie Posavec went 3 for 3 with two RBI for the Bearcats (22-25). Jake Cryts (7.1 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 2 SO) earned the win and Nicholas Liegi (1.2 IP, 1 H) recorded the save. Scott Heath went 3 for 4 with an RBI and a triple for the Black Bears (24-29).

 

American Tournament (Bright House Field, Clearwater, Fla.)

Kyle Survance had four hits, including two doubles, and four runs as Houston outscored UCF. The Cougars (43-15) scored five in the fifth and four more in the seventh. Justin Montemayor went 3 for 5 with three runs and two RBI for UH. Aaron Garza (8-4, 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 4 K) got the win, while Chase Wellbrock (3 IP, 4 H, 3 R, K) picked up his 12th save. The Knights (36-23) belted four home runs, two by James Vasquez (4 RBI) as well as one by Erik Barber (2 R, 3 RBI) and Tommy Williams (2 for 4). Both teams went 2-1 in pool play and the result of the Temple-Connecticut game will determine which squad advances to the title game.

 

Jimmy Herget pitched a six-hitter as USF nipped Louisville. Herget (8-6) walked two and fanned six. Kyle Teaf went 2 for 4 with one RBI, while Zac Gilcrease had two hits and a run for the Bulls (27-30). Nock Solak had two hits and a run for the Cardinals (44-14). Both teams are 1-1 in pod play.

 

Jon Reed went the distance and Keaton Aldridge went 4 for 4 with a homer and two runs as Memphis defeated Rutgers. Both teams now stand 1-1 in pod play. Reed (8-3) allowed seven hits and one run with three walks and six strikeouts. Aldridge had a leadoff homer to spark a three-run second for the Tigers (29-29). Nick Favatella went 2 for 2 with a double, two walks and a run for the Scarlet Knights (30-24).

 

Atlantic 10 Tournament (Billiken Sports Center, St. Louis, Mo.)

Anthony Montefusco hurled a four-hit shutout as George Mason blanked VCU to advance to the championship game. Montefusco (9-3) did not walk a batter and struck out three. He did not allow a runner to third. The Patriots (33-20) scored once in the fifth and plated two insurance runs in the ninth. Brandon Gum drove in two and Montefusco scored twice. Vimael Machin doubled for the Rams (36-19).

 

VCU scored three in the top of the 16th and held on to eliminate Saint Louis. James Bunn had a one-out single and scored the tie-breaking run in the 16th for the Rams (37-19). Logan Farrar went 3 for 7 with two runs and two RBI for VCU. W Concepcion (6-3, 7 IP, 6 H, R, 2 BB, 4 K) earned the victory in the 5:30 marathon. Mike Vigliarolo had three hits and two RBI for the Billikens (34-21-1). There was one extra-base hit among the 33 hits in the game. VCU stranded 17 and SLU left 16. The Rams advanced to the title game and must beat George Mason twice to claim the crown.

 

Jake Henson had a three-run double to highlight a five-run eighth as Saint Louis downed Saint Joseph’s. Danny Brennan and Alec Sole both had two hits and two runs for the Billikins (34-20-1). Matt Eckelman (7-2, 3 IP, 3 H, 2 K) earned the win in relief. Collin Forgey homered in the third for the Hawks (35-16), who set a program record for wins in a season.

Mitch Elliott (3 for 5, 2B, 3B) and Joe Forney (4 for 5) both drove in three as Xavier eliminated St. John’s. The Musketeers (27-27) extended a 2-0 advantage with four in the third. Vinny Nittoli (6-3, 8 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K) earned the win. Robbie Knightes had two hits for the Red Storm (35-20).

Bailey Ober tossed a five-hitter as the College of Charleston edged William & Mary to reach the CAA title game. Ober (9-2) allowed no walks and struck out four. Brandon Murray and Nick Pappas had solo homers for the Cougars (40-17). Josh Smith went deep in the sixth for the Tribe (33-21).

 

Kevin Nutter had two doubles, two runs and two RBI as William & Mary scored six in the second and four in the third to eliminate UNCW and advance to the championship game. Michael Katz had two hits and three RBI, while Nick Thompson scored twice and drove in a pair for the Tribe (34-21). Nick Brown (5-1, 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) took the win. Terence Connelly had three hits, one run and one RBI for the Seahawks (30-27).

 

Corey Dick had a two-run single to highlight a five-run eighth as UNCW rallied past Delaware in an elimination game. Andy Austin (3 for 4) had a run and an RBI for the Seahawks (30-26). Ryan Foster (2-3, 7 IP, 5 H, R, 2 K) earned the win, while Kelly Secrest recorded the final three outs for his eighth save. Joe Giacchino homered for the Blue Hens (26-27).

Alex Godzak allowed one earned run in 6.1 innings, and Jimmy Luppens went 2 for 2 with two runs and an RBI as Canisius won its winners’ bracket game with Fairfield. The Golden Griffins (40-14) scored in each of the first four innings to take a 4-0 lead, and Connor Panas and Ronnie Bernick each added two hits and an RBI. Jake Salpietro had two hits and two runs for the Stags (31-23).

 

Kyle Perry’s high chopper through the left side plated Joe Bamford with the game-winning run in the bottom of the 15th inning as Monmouth (23-24) eliminated Manhattan (17-33) in a game that was suspended Thursday nine because of fog after nine complete innings. Perry went 4 for 7 with a run, Steve Wilgus went 4 for 8 with two runs and an RBI and Joe Bamford went 4 for 6 with two RBI and a run for the Hawks. Brendan Slattery went 4 for 7 with two runs and two RBI for the Jaspers.

 

Later in the day, Monmouth’s Jeff Singer allowed five hits and struck out six in a complete-game win that eliminated Quinnipiac. Steve Wilgus went 3 for 5 with two runs, and Jake Gronsky went 2 for 4 with two runs and an RBI for the Hawks (24-24). Matthew Batten went 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI for the Bobcats (18-31).

 

NEC Tournament (Dodd Stadium, Norwich, Conn.)

Craig Schlitter (10-1) tossed a three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts to lead Bryant past Central Connecticut. Buck McCarthy (2 for 3, 2 R) homered, while Cole Fabio went 1 for 3 with an RBI for the Bulldogs (41-14). J.P. Sportman went 1 for 4 recording one of the three hits for the Blue Devils (27-21).

 

Derick Horn went 3 for 5 with three RBI as Sacred Heart beat Wagner in a high-scoring affair. Matt Charmello went 2 for 5 and also knocked in three, while Jeff Stoddard (6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 5 BB, 4 SO) earned the win for the Pioneers (28-27). Trey Nicosia went 3 for 5 with three RBI, while Shaun Flynn went 1 for 3 with three RBI for the Seahawks (19-35).

Derek Fisher’s run-scoring single in the top of the eighth snapped a 2-2 tie and propelled Virginia past North Carolina. Whit Mayberry (6-1, 2.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K) earned the victory and Nick Howard (1.1 IP, H, BB, 2 K) tied the program record with his 18th save. He left the tying run on second in both the eighth and ninth. Wood Myers (4 for 5) hit a two-run homer in the seventh for the Tar Heels (33-25).

 

Mike Shawaryn tossed seven scoreless innings as Maryland downed Florida State to move to 2-0 in pod play. The Terrapins (36-19) need a win over North Carolina on Saturday to reach the ACC championship game. Shawaryn (10-3) allowed two hits and three walks while fanning six. Kevin Mooney recorded the final six outs, three by strikeout, to record his 11th save. Jose Cuas (2 for 3, 3 RBI) had a two-run double to highlight a four-run third for Maryland. John Nogowski went 1 for 4 with one RBI for the Seminoles (42-15), who scored their three runs in the top of the eighth.

 

Dusty Isaacs and Sam Clay combined on a four-hit shutout as Georgia Tech blanked Clemson. The Yellow Jackets (35-25) finished 2-1 in pod play and will advance to the championship game if Miami defeats Duke on Saturday. Isaacs (7-5) allowed one hit and four walks in five innings with seven strikeouts in earning the win, while Clay surrendered three hits over the final four innings with six punchouts to record his eighth save. Mott Hyde (3 for 4) belted a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to extend a 1-0 lead. Garrett Boulware had two hits for the Tigers (36-23).

 

Atlantic Sun Tournament (Swanson Stadium, Fort Myers, Fla.)

Garrett Russini had two hits and two runs as Stetson eliminated ETSU. The Hatters (26-33) scored twice in the seventh to snap a 2-2 tie and added an insurance run in the ninth. Taylor Cockrell had three hits for the victors. Mitchell Jordan (3-8, 6.2 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 K) earned the win, while Tyler Warmoth (2 IP, 2 H, 2 K) notched his 10th save. Jeremy Taylor (3 for 5, 2 R) doubled and homered for the Bucs (27-30).

 

Jack English (4-4, 4 BB, 7 K) tossed a two-hit shutout as FGCU sent Jacksonville home. Nick Rivera went 2 for 4 with a double and one RBI for the Eagles (38-21). Michael Babb and Braddock Rowe both had hits for the Dolphins (21-33).

Seth LaRue had three hits and drove in five as Campbell outscored Coastal Carolina in an elimination game. Steven Leonard added four hits and three runs for the Camels (37-19). Ryan Thompson (2.1 IP, 3 H, R, 2 K) recorded his 16th save. Reid Moman (3 for 5) and Michael Paez (2 for 5) both knocked in three for the Chanticleers (24-33).

 

Ryan Seiz homered in the bottom of the eighth to snap a 3-3 tie as Liberty edged Radford. Alex Close (2 for 4, 2 R) also went deep for the Flames (42-15). Shawn Clowers (9-0, 4 IP, 2 H, 3 K) earned the win, while Ashton Perritt fanned two in the ninth for his 12th save. Patrick Marshall had two hits for the Highlanders (33-25).

 

SEC Tournament (Regions Park, Hoover, Ala.)

#2 Ole Miss 7 vs. #7 Arkansas 8 (Ole Miss eliminated)

Arkansas scored single runs in each of the final two innings to rally past Ole Miss. The Rebels (41-18) led 6-0 after three before the Razorbacks (38-22) tallied three in both the fifth and sixth. Ole Miss took a 7-6 lead in the seventh before Arkansas fought back. Joe Serrano went 2 for 4 with three runs for the victors. Will Allen had two hits and two RBI for the Rebels.

 

Justin Shafer (1-0, 4.2 IP, 2 H, R, 3 K) earned the win in relief as Florida took care of Mississippi State. Peter Alonso drove in two for the Gators (39-20). C.T. Bradford had three hits for the Bulldogs (37-22).

 

Southern Tournament (Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park, Charleston, S.C.)

#4 Georgia Southern 2 vs. #5 Appalachian State 1 (ASU eliminated)

Stryker Brown ripped a two-run homer and six pitchers – led by Jason Richman’s 3.1 innings of relief – held Appalachian State to one run as Georgia Southern (36-21) eliminated the Mountaineers (21-34). Aaron Mizell singled before Brown’s homer in the fourth, and Alex Leach countered with a sacrifice fly as ASU cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fourth.

 

Alec Paradowski went 5 for 5 with a run and an RBI, and James Plaisted drove in four as Winthrop rallied late to eliminate Davidson. The Wildcats (29-19) scored five times in the first inning and led until the eighth, when the Terriers (32-27) scored three times in the eighth and twice more in the ninth. Matt Ramsey and Demetrius Jennings had two hits and two RBI for Wofford, which scored its final three runs on a sacrifice fly, squeeze bunt and wild pitch. David Daniels went 3 for 5 with two runs and an RBI, and Nathan Becker had two hits and two RBI for Davidson.

 

Sun Belt Tournament (Stanky Field, Mobile, Ala.)

Tanner Hill belted a two-run homer in the sixth to erase a 1-0 deficit as Texas State sent ULM home. Cory Geisler and Austin O’Neal (3 for 3, 2 R) added solo shots for the Bobcats (30-27). Austen Williams (8-3, 8 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 7 K) earned the win, while Hunter Lemke worked around one hit in the ninth for his 11th save. Dalton Herrington went 2 for 4 with a double and a run for the Warhawks (23-36).

 

Chandler Hawkins (5-5, 2 BB, K) pitched a three-hit shutout in seven innings as Arkansas State run-ruled Troy. Dustin Jones homered, scored twice and drove in a pair for the Red Wolves (32-26). Garrett Pitts went 1 for 3 with a stolen base for the Trojans (25-32).

Adam Toth had a leadoff single and scored in the top of the seventh to snap a 2-2 tie and capped the five-run frame by being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded as Baylor bounced West Virginia. Logan Brown had three hits and two RBI for the Bears (26-30). Billy Fleming homered for the Mountaineers (28-26).

 

Aaron Cornell belted a three-run homer in the top of the eighth to break an 8-8 deadlock as Oklahoma State outlasted Oklahoma. Bryan Case had two hits (2B, HR), two walks and three runs for the Cowboys (43-15). Brendan McCurry (2 IP, H, K) earned his 17th save. Sheldon Neuse went 4 for 5 with two runs and two RBI for the Sooners (29-29).

 

Conference USA Tournament (Pete Taylor Park, Hattiesburg, Miss.)

Victor Diaz (5-2, 6 IP, 4 H, R, BB, 5 K) earned the win and Brad Gero pitched a perfect ninth for his 12th save as Old Dominion edged Middle Tennessee. Josiah Burney had two hits and a run for the Monarchs (35-23). Ryan Stephens (3 for 4) homered for the Blue Raiders (31-27).

 

Cameron Giannini (5-2, 3 BB, 5 K) tossed a five-hitter as Southern Miss eliminated East Carolina. Michael Gilbert (2 for 4) had a two-run single and scored in a three-run fourth for the Golden Eagles (34-24). Hunter Allen went 2 for 3 for the Pirates (33-26).

 

Horizon Tournament (Kapco Park, Mequon, Wis.)

Josh White went 4 for 5 with a triple and two runs as Youngstown State beat Milwaukee to move to the championship game. The Penguins (15-36) used a seven-run second to take control. Phil Lipari had three hits and two runs, while Matt Sullivan added three hits and two RBI for YSU. Patrick O’Brien (2-10, 7 IP, 10 H, R, BB, 5 K) earned the victory. Eric Solberg went 3 for 3 for the Panthers (21-28).

 

Robby Sexton (8-4, 7 H, BB, 4 K) pitched a shutout as Wright State dispatched of Valparaiso. Sean Murphy drove in three for the Raiders (34-21). Spencer Mahoney had two hits, including a double, for the Crusaders (25-28).

 

In the day’s first game, Ellis Foreman (4-6, 4 H, BB, 5 K) tossed eight scoreless innings as Valpo eliminated UIC. Karch Kowalczyk pitched a hitless ninth for his 11th save. Jake Hanson had three hits and one RBI for the Crusaders. Cody Bohanek went 1 for 2 with a walk for the Flames (24-27).

 

MAC Tournament (All Pro Freight Stadium, Avon, Ohio)

Mike Burke pitches a shutout for Buffalo to allow them to slide past Miami in the MAC tournament. Burke (9 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO) pitched all nine innings giving up zero runs to earn his sixth win on the year, while Matt Pollock went 2 for 5 with an RBI and hit a double in the eighth for the Bulls (26-25). Chad Sedio went 2 for 4 for the Redhawks (30-27), but it was not enough on this Friday afternoon.

 

Brett Sunde went 1 for 3 with a double in the fifth to advance Western Michigan past Ball State. Sunde had 2 RBI with his double in the fifth, while Andrew Sohn went 2 for 4 with one RBI. Will Nimke (4.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO) earned the win for the Broncos (24-30) getting his first win on the year. Jarett Rindfleisch went 2 for 4 with the only RBI for the Cardinals (39-18).

 

Missouri Valley Tournament (Bob Warn Field, Terre Haute, Ind.)

Camden Duzenack, Nash Knight and KJ Alexander each drove in two runs, and Dallas Baptist (39-19) scored seven times in the first inning to eliminate Missouri State (26-31). Justin Wall went 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI for the Patriots. Eric Cheray homered and drove in two for the Bears. Earlier, pinch-hitter Trey Hair had an RBI single, advanced to third on an error on the play and then scored on a wild pitch as Missouri State got past Dallas Baptist in the 10th inning.

Brandon Thomasson had two hits and three RBI, and Daniel Miles contributed three hits and two RBI as Tennessee Tech won a winners’ bracket affair with Southeast Missouri to reach the championship round. The Golden Eagles (40-17) tied the school record for wins, thanks in part to freshman Evan Fraliex (4-0), who tossed seven innings with three hits and two runs. OVC pitcher of the year Travis Hayes (8-2) allowed three earned runs and struck out 11 for the RedHawks (37-19).

 

Tyler Gamble went 4 for 5 with a homer and four RBI, and Paschal Petrongolo had four hits, including a two-run homer, and three RBI as Jacksonville State (32-25) eliminated Eastern Illinois (22-33-1). Casey Antley (3-4) allowed two earned runs and struck out five in his first complete game.

 

Griff Gordon went 3 for 5 with a triple, two runs and three RBI as Jacksonville State (33-25) eliminated Morehead State (29-28). Paschal Petrongolo had two hits and two RBI for the Gamecocks, who got seven strong innings from Adam Polk.

Kennon Menard had a two-run double, and Jacob Williams followed with a two-run double as Southeastern Louisiana scored five times in the ninth inning to overcome Northwestern State and advance to the championship game. Daniel Midyett also drove in two runs for the Lions (36-23). Edwin Gomez went 5 for 5 for the Demons (33-26).

 

Earlier, Steven Spann tossed his first complete game with four hits, five walks and six strikeouts as Northwestern State eliminated top-seeded Sam Houston State. Spann took a no-hitter into the eighth inning, but Ryan O’Hearn hit a solo homer to right. In a game that totaled eight hits, the Demons scored three times in the top of the eighth inning. Caleb Dugas had an RBI infield single that scored a second run from second when he beat the throw at first. Sam Houston State, expected to grab an at-large bid to the NCAA Tourney, fell to 41-17.

 

Connor Lloyd went 3 for 4 with two runs, and Andrew Guillotte had two hits, two runs and two RBI as McNeese State eliminated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Brandon Tierney went 3 for 5 with two runs and an RBI, and Kyle Danford added two hits and two RBI for the Islanders.

 

Nate Ferrell went 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBI, and Wesley Hoover and Scott Zimmerle each drove in two as Central Arkansas eliminated McNeese State to return to the championship game for the second straight year. Connor McClain allowed three hits and struck out seven in four innings of scoreless relief for the Bears (32-21). Andrew Guillotte went 3 for 5 with a run for the Cowboys (30-28).

Parker Trewin tossed a complete game with eight strikeouts, and North Dakota State advanced to the championship game for the third straight year by beating Western Illinois. Wes Satzinger had two hits and three runs, and Jon Hechtner added two hits and two runs for the Bison (24-24). Payton Jeffers went 2 for 4 for WIU (20-31).

 

Western Illinois scored four runs in the eighth inning, thanks in part to a pair of errors, in eliminating South Dakota State and reaching the championship game. Brent Turner had an RBI single and JJ Reimer squeezed in another run in the decisive inning for WIU (21-31).

 

Scott Splett had two hits and two RBI, and Chad Hodges worked eight strong innings as South Dakota State (28-28) eliminated IPFW (19-36). Paul Jacobson added two RBI, and Cody Sharrow went 2 for 3 with a run for SDSU. Evan Vansumeren went 3 for 3 with two runs for IPFW.

Edgar Montes tied the game in the eighth with a three-run homer and an RBI double by T.J. White (4 for 5) ended it in the bottom of the ninth as UNLV edged San Diego State to advance to the title game. Brad Haynal went 3 for 4 with two doubles, one run and one RBI for the Aztecs (39-19).

 

Nevada won a pair of elimination games earlier in the day. The Wolf Pack (31-26) scored six in the top of the 11th to knock out New Mexico. Trenton Brooks (3-1, 2.1 IP, 5 H, R, BB, 3 K) earned the win plus had two hits and four RBI for Nevada. Chase Harris (3 for 6, 2 RBI) homered for the Lobos (37-20-1). In the day’s first game, Brooks went 4 for 4 with a homer, two runs and four RBI to lead Nevada past Fresno State. Austin Guibor went 1 for 2 with one RBI for the Bulldogs (28-29).

Craig Brinkerhoff had a two-run double to cap a four-run first as Utah Valley downed CSU Bakersfield to advance to the championship game. Andrew Freter (6-7, 8.1 IP, 13 H, 2 UE, 3 K) earned the win, while Chad Michaud rolled a game-ending double play for his sixth save. Kade Andrus had three hits and a run for the Wolverines (28-28). Mylez Jones had two hits, including a triple, and two runs for the Roadrunners (26-32).

 

Rhys Hoskins (2 for 4, 2B, R) drove in three as Sacramento State eliminated New Mexico State. David Del grande had a two-run double to highlight a four-run first for the Hornets (36-22). Alex Paisha fanned seven over the final 3.1 innings to earn his third save. Derek Umphres had a two-run double for the Aggies (23-31).

 

In the day’s first game, Taylor Noyer had two hits and four RBI to lead NMSU past Texas-Pan American. Lee Rios went 2 for 4 with a homer and three RBI for the Broncs (27-30).

Aaron Brown (11-1, 5 H, R, 2 BB) fanned seven in eight innings as Pepperdine advanced to the title game with a win over Loyola Marymount. Eric Karch pitched a perfect ninth for his 13th save. Brad Anderson had a two-run homer in the fourth to erase a 1-0 deficit. Aaron Barnett went 4 for 4 with a run for the Waves (38-16). David Fletcher had two hits for the Lions.

 

In the day’s final game, Tommy Cheek had two hits and two runs as LMU eliminated Gonzaga. The Lions (32-23) took control with three in the top of the first. Nicholas Minteer went 2 for 4 with a double, two runs and one RBI for the Bulldogs (26-29).

 

In the first game of the day, Payden Lamb (3 for 4, 3 RBI) had a two-run single to cap a four-run sixth as Gonzaga sent Santa Clara home. Greg Harisis had three hits and four runs for the Broncos (26-30).
