LMU places four on Preseason All-WCC Team

 

Loyola Marymount placed four players on the Preseason All-West Coast Conference Team, as voted by the league’s head coaches and released by the conference office.

 

The quartet of Lions honored includes senior infielder Jonathan Johnson, junior outfielder Ryan Hawthorne, junior pitcher Martin Viramontes (left) and sophomore Matt Lowenstein, the 2010 WCC Freshman of the Year.

 

Portland had three players recognized: senior infielder Riley Henricks, senior pitcher Chris Dennis and junior hurler Kyle Kraus.

 

The 2011 season begins on Friday, Feb. 18, with all eight WCC teams in action. Conference play gets underway on Friday, April 15. The regular-season champion advances to the NCAA Tournament.
