Kent State is CBI Team of the Week

 

Kent State picked up three wins at Coastal Carolina’s tournament and has been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week for games played Feb. 23-March 1.

 

The Golden Flashes earned wins over the host Chanticleers, West Virginia and Illinois, allowing three runs or less in each of their games.

 

Regional Teams of the Week

 

Northeast: Columbia opened its season by going on the road to No. 6 Houston and splitting four games with the Cougars.

 

Southeast: Missouri continued its hot start by winning four games and allowing only four runs – the Tigers beat Purdue once and UIC three times.

 

Central: McNeese State won a big road game at Louisiana before sweeping a three-game set from UTSA in its 4-0 week.

 

West: San Diego State went 4-0, knocking off rival San Diego and sweeping three games from San Jose State.

 

Honorable Mention

 

UCF, last week’s National Team of the Week, topped Bethune-Cookman before taking two of three at home against Ole Miss.

Long Beach State lost a tight one to UCLA, then swept three from Wichita State.

Cal State Fullerton got on track by posting a sweep of Baylor

Tulane went 4-1 with a home-and-home win over UNO and a series win vs. Creighton.

Notre Dame extended its win streak to nine games with wins over Belmont, Mercer and Akron.

San Diego dropped a game to San Diego State and then took two straight at Texas.

Mississippi State posted a 5-0 week with a win over Alcorn State, two over Arizona and two over Samford.

UTPA lost to Texas and swept three games from Lamar.

Minnesota got on track by sweeping a three-game series at FGCU.

Central Michigan went on the road and took three of four at Texas State.
