Texas-Arlington
named Team of the Week
After posting a 4-1 week, including a pair of wins over
nationally-ranked teams, Texas-Arlington has been named
CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.
The Mavericks started with a 7-3 home victory over No. 19
Oklahoma State on Tuesday. UTA traveled to Austin on Wednesday and edged No. 17
Texas 4-3. Over the weekend, the Mavericks took two of three from Southeastern
Louisiana in a Southland Conference series.
Honorable mention goes to Temple, which rebounded from a loss to
Delaware to defeat George Mason and sweep first-place Duquesne in an Atlantic 10
series. Defending national champion Oregon won two of three Pac-10 games at No.
3 Arizona State. Top-ranked Miami (Fla.) rallied to win at Florida Atlantic and
took two of three ACC games at No. 2 Florida State. Oklahoma State bounced back
from its loss at Texas-Arlington to defeat Mid-America Christian and sweep a Big
12 series at Texas. Coastal Carolina enjoyed a 5-0 week with wins at Virginia
and at Elon and a three-game Big South sweep of UNC Asheville. Rice won at No.
10 Texas A&M and swept a three-game Conference USA series against East Carolina.
Georgia topped East Tennessee State and Georgia State before going 2-0-1 in
three SEC games at LSU. UC Santa Barbara went 4-0 with a win over Westmont and
three victories over USC. College of Charleston defeated Charleston Southern and
took two of three Southern Conference contests from first-place Elon. Dallas
Baptist split two games with Baylor and swept a three-game set at Memphis.
Michigan stretched its win streak to 11 with two victories over Eastern Michigan
and a four-game Big Ten sweep of Michigan State. Kent State also extended its
win streak to 11 with wins at Cleveland State and at Akron and a three-game MAC
sweep at Bowling Green. Monmouth went 5-0 with a win over Rider and a four-game
NEC sweep of Quinnipiac. Rhode Island won at Quinnipiac, defeated Hartford and
went 2-0-1 in Atlantic 10 play at Richmond. San Jose State swept a four-game WAC
series against Louisiana Tech. Fresno State rebounded from a loss at Cal Poly to
sweep a four-game WAC set at New Mexico State. Akron won at Penn State and lost
to Kent State before sweeping a three-game MAC series against Ohio. Binghamton
bounced back from a loss to Siena to sweep a four-game America East series
against Albany. Harvard rebounded from a loss to Northeastern to sweep a
four-game Ivy League series with Brown.
