70 Former Division I Players on Division Series Rosters

There are 70 former Division I players among the 200 major leaguers listed on MLB Division Series rosters, including former Vanderbilt hurler Sonny Gray (right) of the Oakland Athletics. This is an increase from 60 three years ago and a drop from 78 two seasons ago and 75 in 2012.

The St. Louis Cardinals lead the way with 12. The Oakland Athletics have 11, while the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Pittsburgh Pirates both have 10. The Boston Red Sox have eight, the Atlanta Braves and Detroit Tigers both have seven, while the Tampa Bay Rays bring up the rear with five.

There are 53 Division I schools which have at least one alum in the Division Series. Vanderbilt claims the highest number with four (Pedro Alvarez of Pittsburgh, Sonny Gray of Oakland, Mike Minor of Atlanta and David Price of Tampa Bay). Arizona State, Florida and Florida State have three each, while eight schools have two: Cal State Fullerton, Fresno State, Miami (Fla.), North Carolina, Ole Miss, Stanford, Texas and UC Santa Barbara.

There are links below to lists divided by school and by Major League teams.
