Former Citadel star and current Texas Rangers
minor leaguer Chris McGuiness has been named Most Valuable
Player in the Arizona Fall League. The first baseman batted .283
with four homers and 27 RBI in 25 games for the Surprise
Saguaros. McGuiness had 23 homers, 25 doubles and 77 RBI for
Double A Frisco in 2012. He played for the Bulldogs from
2007-09.
Rice will host the 2013 Conference USA Baseball
Championship at Reckling Park. The eight-team pool-play event
will be held May 22-26. The championship game will be
nationally-televised by CBS Sports Network. It will be the first
time the Owls have hosted the event since 2006. Reckling Park
has been a host venue for NCAA Regionals or Super Regionals in
10 of the past 12 years.

tournament passes for the 2013 ACC Championship are now on sale.
Adult passes are $130.00 for the full 13-game tournament. The
event runs from May 22-26 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in
Durham, N.C.
Georgetown recently held its 12th annual Career
Night, as professional leaders in government, business, law and
the military shared advice with junior and senior Hoya baseball
players as they prepare to transition from the ball field to the
work place.
Florida
State players received their team rings after reaching the
College World Series in 2012 and posting 24 wins in the ACC. The
Seminoles reached Omaha for the 21st time after winning the
Tallahassee Regional and sweeping Stanford in the Tallahassee
Super Regional. FSU went 2-2 at the CWS, falling to Arizona in
12 innings before topping Stony Brook and UCLA. The Seminoles
fell a second time to the eventual national champion Wildcats.
