Baptist senior Jason Krizan (left) broke the NCAA Division I
record for doubles in a season on May 13 with his 37th
two-bagger. He passed the mark of 36 shared by three players,
most recently done by Brad Hawpe of LSU in 2000. Krizan had his
school-record 39-game hit streak snapped on May 17 at Baylor.
The Patriots complete the regular season this week with a
three-game home series against Charlotte.
Stony Brook will open Joe Nathan Field this
weekend with a pair of America East doubleheaders against Albany
on Friday and Saturday. The Seawolves have won 18 of their past
19 in raising their overall record to 37-10 and conference mark
to 18-2. Stony Brook has already set program marks for overall
and America East victories in a season. The Seawolves need one
win or one Maine loss to clinch the regular-season title and the
top seed in the America East tournament.
