The North Carolina baseball team will partner with the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center for the second annual UNC BaseBald for the Cure on April 2 following the game against Clemson. The promotion is organized by bullpen catcher Chase Jones, who is a cancer survivor. The event raised $6,000 a year ago and has a goal of $10,000 this year. For every $100 donated, one UNC player will shave his head on the field following the game on April 2. For information on how to donate, visit basebald.kintera.org.

Former Monmouth catcher Bobby Dombrowski has signed a professional contract with the Broxton Rox, an independent team in the Cam-Am League. The league consists of teams in Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Canada. Dombrowski hit .331 in 2010 for the Hawks with seven homers and 39 RBI in 48 games.
