2012 Coaching Changes

Villano resigns at Western Illinois

Western Illinois head coach Mike Villano has resigned, effective immediately.

Villano will look for a position outside of coaching in business sales. He took over leadership of the program in December, 2009. Villano posted a mark of 52-112-1 in three seasons as head coach. The Leathernecks were 17-35-1 this past season, including 7-17 in the Summit League.

Assistant coaches Shane Davis and Cooper Stewart will oversee the program until a new head coach is hired. The search for a new coach will begin immediately.
