Rooney earns contract extension at UCF

In his fifth season with the Knights, head coach Terry Rooney has received a contract extension at UCF through the 2017 season.

After guiding the Knights to the NCAA Tournament in 2011 for the first time since 2004, Rooney led UCF to an overall record of 45-17 this past season and 16-8 in Conference USA. The Knights went 2-1 in the C-USA Tournament, but did not reach the title game. UCF won its first two games in the Coral Gables Regional, but fell twice to Stony Brook to complete its season. The Knights were ranked each week during the season, rising as high as No. 7.

During the past three seasons, UCF has had five All-Americans. There have been 17 Knights sign professional contracts since 2009. UCF has had 22 student-athletes earn spots on the Conference USA Honor Roll under Rooney.
