High Point Tabs Thompson

 
High Point University has filled its coaching vacancy with Butch Thompson, who spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach at Auburn.

Thompson, a 1992 graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, Thompson brings 16 years of college coaching experience to the Panthers, including serving as the head coach at Jefferson State Community College. He also had stops at Huntingdon College, Birmingham-Southern and Georgia before arriving at Auburn. In all, Thompson has spent the past seven years as a pitching coach, helping 15 players to the Major League Draft.

Thompson, 37, and his wife Robin have three daughters: Anna, Olivia and Madelyn Gail.
