New Orleans Names Peddie Head Coach

Associate head coach Bruce Peddie has been promoted to head coach at New Orleans.

Peddie replaces Tom Walter, who resigned to become head coach at Wake Forest.

Peddie has been associate head coach of the Privateers for the past three years, working with hitters and handling recruiting. He helped UNO earn an NCAA Tournament bid in 2008 for the first time since 2000.

Before coming to UNO, Peddie was head coach at Division II Shippensburg (Pa.). He earned five NCAA tourney bids in 11 seasons and reached the College World Series in 1996.

Peddie is a 1987 graduate of Mansfield and was an assistant coach at his alma mater from 1989 to 1995. The Mounties appeared in four NCAA Regionals and reached the CWS three times.

Peddie and his wife, Laurie, have twin daughters: Carly and Annie.
