2012 Coaching Changes

Burroughs hired as head coach at Northwestern State

Former Mississippi State assistant coach Lane Burroughs has been named head coach at Northwestern State. Burroughs succeeds J.P. Davis, who resigned following the 2012 season.

Burroughs coached with John Cohen for the past four years with the Bulldogs. He helped MSU win the SEC championship and appear in its second straight NCAA Tournament.

He was also an assistant at Kansas State, Southern Miss, Northwestern State and East Mississippi Community College.

Burroughs was a catcher and outfielder at Mississippi College, earning his degree in 1995. He received a master’s degree in social sciences in 1996 as a graduate assistant coach.
