Kessinger Steps Down at Arkansas State

Keith Kessinger has decided not to accept the contract offer by Arkansas State and will not return as head coach.

Kessinger posted a record of 151-178-1 in six seasons at ASU. He completed the final year of a three-year contract which was extended after the 2005 campaign. Kessinger was offered a one-year extension after this past season.

ASU was 20-34-1 in 2008, including 8-16 at home. The Indians were 8-21-1 in the Sun Belt and finished 11th in the standings.

Kessinger’s best season came in 2005, when the Indians went 33-23.

A national search begins immediately for a successor.
