Grewe resigns at Michigan State

Becomes associate head coach at LSU

Michigan State head coach David Grewe has resigned to accept the position of associate head coach at LSU.

A former assistant for LSU head coach Paul Mainieri at Notre Dame, Grewe compiled a 75-86 record in three years with the Spartans. Grewe, 32, will serve as LSU’s pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.

Assistant coach Tony Baldwin will serve as interim head coach at Michigan State as a search begins for a successor.

Mainieri also announced that volunteer coach Javi Sanchez has been promoted to full-time assistant coach, coordinator of baseball operations Will Davis has been promoted to volunteer assistant coach, and former LSU pitcher Kyle Beerbohm has been named undergraduate student assistant coach. Sanchez will concentrate on hitting and baserunning. Davis will work with the outfielders and oversee Paul Mainieri Baseball Camps. Beerbohm will assist Grewe with pitchers.
