Garrido Suspended Indefinitely After DUI Arrest

Texas head coach Augie Garrido was suspended indefinitely with pay Saturday after an early morning arrest on a drunken driving charge, according to the Associated Press.

Garrido, 69, was stopped near downtown Austin just before 1 a.m. Saturday and was arrested after failing a sobriety test.

Garrido is the winningest coach in NCAA Division I baseball history. He has a record of 1,629-755-8 in 39 years as head coach. Garrido is 478-231-1 in 11 seasons with the Longhorns, including national championships in 2002 and 2005. He also won three national titles with Cal State Fullerton.

In a Jan. 23 press conference, Garrido acknowledged that the Athletics Department and the University decided on a four-game suspension as part of his penalty.
