Cohen named head coach at Mississippi State

Former Kentucky skipper John Cohen was introduced Saturday afternoon as head coach at Mississippi State.

A native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Cohen played for the Bulldogs from 1987-90 and helped MSU reach the College World Series in 1990.

Cohen, 41, compiled a mark of 175-113-1 (.607) in five years at Kentucky, including a pair of school-record 44-win seasons. He posted a 146-84 (.635) record in four years at Northwestern State, including a pair of Southland Conference titles in 1998 and 2001.

Cohen replaces his former head coach, Ron Polk, who retired at the conclusion of the season.
