Carroll Promoted at Evansville

  

Assistant coach Wes Carroll has been elevated to head coach at Evansville.

 

A native of Newburgh, Ind., Carroll coached the past two seasons at his alma mater. He has primarily worked with the hitters and infielders.

 

Carroll, 29, was an infielder for the Purple Aces from 1998-2001. He was a Freshman All-American in 1998, when he hit .355 with 18 doubles. Carroll holds the school record with 74 career doubles. He was drafted in the 37th round by the Philadelphia Phillies and spent five seasons in professional baseball.

 

Carroll earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Kinetics and Sport Studies from Evansville in 2001. He and his wife, Ashley, have one son.

 

Carroll replaces David Seifert, who resigned on May 31.
