Bergman out at UCF after 26 seasons

 

The University of Central Florida has relieved head coach Jay Bergman of his duties. Associate head coach Craig Cozart will be interim head coach for the remainder of the 2008 season.

 

The 69-year-old Bergman has a record of 994-594-3 in 26 seasons with the Knights, including nine NCAA Regional appearances. His overall Division I record is 1,210-707-3 in 32 seasons. This season, UCF is 27-19 overall and 5-13 in Conference USA with 10 games remaining in the regular season. The Knights are currently in eighth place in the league standings.

 

Bergman was 180-79 in seven seasons at Seminole Community College. He was 216-113 in six years at Florida, including three NCAA Regional appearances.
