Longhorns still on top in CBI Composite Poll

Same Top 3 spots with Texas, Virginia, Arizona State; Florida up to fourth

 

With a three-game sweep at Missouri, the Texas Longhorns remained at No. 1 in the latest CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

 

Texas is first in the Collegiate Baseball, NCBWA and USA Today/ESPN polls and second in the Baseball America poll. The Longhorns tuned up for the Big 12 Tournament with three wins in Columbia against Missouri.

 

Virginia is first in the Baseball America poll, second in two polls and third in one poll to place second in the CBI Poll. The Cavaliers won two of three at No. 13 Miami to secure the top seed in the ACC Tournament.

 

Arizona State is second in one poll and third in three polls to sit third in the CBI Poll. The Sun Devils won at Arizona before taking two of three from Oregon State to stay in first in the Pac-10.

 

Florida moved up one spot to fourth. The Gators defeated UNF before taking two of three at South Carolina to clinch the top seed in the SEC Tournament.

 

Coastal Carolina dropped one spot to fifth. The Chanticleers lost a non-conference contest to College of Charleston before taking two from Radford to remain undefeated in Big South play.

 

UCLA defeated UC Santa Barbara before sweeping a three-game Pac-10 series at California. The Bruins jumped five spots to sixth.

 

South Carolina fell four places to 10th after its series loss to Florida. Florida State dropped six spots to No. 14 after being swept in a three-game ACC series at Clemson.

 

Clemson (No. 17) and San Diego (No. 20) entered the poll this week, while Mississippi and Virginia Tech dropped out.
