Longhorns stay on top in CBI Composite Poll

Same Top 5 spots: Texas, Virginia, Arizona State, Coastal Carolina, Florida

 

Even though their 21-game win streak was snapped, the Texas Longhorns remained at No. 1 in the latest CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

 

Texas is first in the Collegiate Baseball, NCBWA and USA Today/ESPN polls and second in the Baseball America poll. The Longhorns beat Prairie View A&M on Tuesday to stretch their win streak to 21. Texas lost at Kansas State on Friday before defeating the Wildcats on Saturday and Sunday to win the series and clinch the Big 12 regular-season title.

 

Virginia is first the the Baseball America poll, second in the NCBWA poll and third in the other two polls to take second in the CBI poll. The Cavaliers defeated VCU on Tuesday before breaking for final exams.

 

Arizona State is second in two polls and third in the other two, placing third in the CBI poll. The Sun Devils beat Arizona on Tuesday before exam break.

 

Coastal Carolina beat Winthrop twice over the weekend to remain undefeated in Big South play. The Chanticleers are fourth in the CBI poll.

 

Florida stayed at No. 5 after taking two of three in its SEC series at Alabama.

 

TCU climbed two more places to No. 6, followed by Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville and South Carolina, which dropped from sixth to 10th.

 

Auburn and Vanderbilt entered this week's poll, while Oregon and LSU dropped out.
