LSU Rises to No. 1 in Final CBI Composite Poll

Texas sits in second, ASU is third, UNC is fourth, Arkansas climbs to fifth

 

LSU won its sixth national championship and claimed the top spot in the final CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

 

The Tigers (56-17) went 3-0 in Bracket 1 at the College World Series and took two of three from No. 2 Texas (50-16-1) in the championship series to secure the national title. LSU was first in all four national polls. The Longhorns placed second in each poll.

 

Arizona State (51-14) finished tied for third at the CWS and third in the final CBI poll. The Sun Devils were third in each of the four polls.

 

North Carolina (48-18) made its fourth consecutive trip to Omaha and finished fourth in the CBI poll. The Tar Heels were fourth in two national polls, fifth in one and sixth in the other.

 

Arkansas (41-24) returned to the College World Series and rose from No. 24 in the final CBI regular-season poll to No. 5.

 

With its first trip to Omaha, Southern Miss (40-26) rocketed to No. 8 in the final CBI poll.

 

UC Irvine (45-15), the top team in the final CBI regular-season poll, fell to No. 11 after its loss in the Irvine Regional.
