UNC Back at No. 1 in CBI Composite Poll

 

Texas moves to second, Georgia up to No. 3, LSU falls to fourth

 

By sitting on top of one national poll and second in the other three, North Carolina is No. 1 in the latest CollegeBaseballInsider.com Composite Poll.

 

The Tar Heels (10-2) are first in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll and second in the other three. UNC won four of its five home games this past week. The Heels posted non-conference victories over Longwood and Gardner-Webb before taking two of three from nationally-ranked Clemson in its opening ACC series.

Texas (12-1) rose to No. 2 after a victory at Texas State and winning two of three at nationally-ranked Stanford. The Longhorns are first in the Baseball America poll.

Georgia (12-0) enjoyed a 4-0 week at home and climbed to No. 3. The Bulldogs beat Wofford and swept a three-game set from Quinnipiac. Georgia is No. 1 in the Collegiate Baseball poll and the NCBWA poll.

LSU (10-2) went 3-2 and fell to No. 4 after dropping two of three at home to Illinois. Arizona State (11-1) took three at home from Holy Cross and held at No. 5.

Three teams climbed back into the poll. Arkansas (9-2) is No. 21, Virginia (12-0) is No. 22 and South Carolina (8-1) is No. 23.
