Kendall's two-run single helps Vandy win at Louisville

Oklahoma State tops DBU, LSU downs New Orleans, UCLA nips Fullerton

 

No. 9 Vanderbilt 5, No. 2 Louisville 2

In Louisville, Ky., Jeren Kendall had a two-run single to cap a four-run third as Vanderbilt defeated Louisville. Zander Wiel went 2 for 3 with one run and one RBI, while Bryan Reynolds homered and scored twice for the Commodores (37-16). Ryan Johnson (5-0, 5.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 K) recorded the victory, while John Kilichowski retired the final 11 batters in order with five strikeouts to notch his second save. Mike White and Devin Hairston both went 1 for 3 with a run for the Cardinals (40-13).

 

No. 12 Oklahoma State 11, No. 11 Dallas Baptist 2

In Dallas, Donnie Walton went 2 for 3 with three runs and two RBI to lead Oklahoma State past Dallas Baptist. Tim Arakawa had two runs and two RBI for the Cowboys (32-16). OSU had four multi-run innings, including three in the fifth and four in the eighth. Remey Reed (3-0, 3 IP, H, BB, 2 K) earned the win in relief. David Martinelli (2 for 3, BB) homered for the Patriots (39-10).

 

No. 1 LSU 9, New Orleans 1

In New Orleans, Grayson Byrd went 2 for 5 with two runs and four RBI as LSU won at New Orleans. Byrd had a run-scoring infield single in the second to start the scoring. He added an RBI fielder's choice in the fourth and a two-run single in the seventh for the Tigers (44-8). Michael Papierski (2 for 4) added a two-run homer in the seventh for LSU. Hunter Devall (2-0, 3 IP, BB, 3 K) picked up the win. Sam Carriere went 1 for 4 with a run for the Privateers (14-37).

 

No. 3 UCLA 5, Cal State Fullerton 4 (10)

In Fullerton, Calif., Chris Keck had an RBI single in the top of the 10th as UCLA edged Cal State Fullerton. Brett Stephens had a two-run triple to cap a four-run seventh for the Bruins (37-12). Grant Dyer (4-0, 2 IP, 3 K) registered the win, while David Berg worked around a hit in a scoreless 10th to earn his 11th save. Tyler Stieb went 3 for 5 with a double and a run for the Titans (28-22).

 

No. 4 TCU 8, Abilene Christian 2

In Fort Worth, Texas, Evan Skoug homered twice to lead TCU past Abilene Christian. Cody Jones had two hits and two RBI, while Derek Odell also went deep for the Horned Frogs (40-9). Mitchell Traver (7-2, 5.2 IP, H, 2 UE, 4 BB, 3 K) picked up the win. Tyler Eager went 1 for 4 with a run for the Wildcats (13-35).

 

No. 10 Miami 14, Florida Atlantic 6

In Coral Gables, Fla., George Iskenderian went 5 for 5 with three runs and two RBI as Miami outscored FAU. Zack Collins doubled, homered and drove in three for the Hurricanes (39-13), who scored five in the sixth to snap a 6-6 tie. Ricky Santiago had a grand slam in the fifth for the Owls (36-15).
