Deckert pitches FGCU past Florida State

Miami edges FAU, UNLV outlasts Arizona State, Illinois tops Saint Louis

 

FGCU 5, No. 9 Florida State 0

In Tallahassee, Fla., Nick Deckert allowed three hits in 5.1 scoreless innings as FGCU blanked Florida State. Nick Rivera hit his sixth homer and scored twice as the Eagles (17-16-1) scored single runs in each of the first three innings. Taylor Walls went 2 for 4 for the Seminoles (26-9).

 

No. 11 Miami 4, FAU 3 (10)

In Coral Gables, Fla., George Iskenderian went 3 for 4 and plated the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as Miami slipped past FAU. Bryan Garcia (4-1) earned the win as four Hurricanes (25-9) yielded only one hit over the final 4.2 innings. Brendon Sanger had two RBI for the Owls (26-7).

 

UNLV 7, No. 8 Arizona State 6

In Las Vegas, A.J. VanMeetren went 3 for 4 with two doubles, two RBI and a run as UNLV scored four times in the seventh and eighth innings of a win over Arizona State. Joey Armstrong added two hits, a run and an RBI for the Rebels (13-18). Brian Serven went 3 for 5 with a run and an RBI, and Andrew Snow drove in two for the Sun Devils (21-9).

 

No. 16 Illinois 6, Saint Louis 2

In Champaign, Ill., Ryan Nagle went 2 for 4 with three RBI, and Rob McDonnell allowed two runs and struck out seven over 5.2 innings as Illinois got past Saint Louis. The Fighting Illini (26-6-1) also got two hits apiece from Ryne Roper and Will Krug. Jake Henson and Parker Sniatynski had two hits and an RBI for the Billikens (21-11).

 

George Washington 12, No. 17 Maryland 1

In College Park, Md., Brandon Chapman went 3 for 4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI as George Washington dominated Maryland for its first win over a ranked opponent since 2008. The win also marked the first for the Colonials (18-10) over the Terrapins (23-8) since 2003. Kevin Mahala had two RBI, and Joey Bartosic added three runs for GW, which took advantage of five Maryland errors. Jamal Wade went 3 for 3 for the Terps.

 

No. 19 Virginia 14, James Madison 1

In Charlottesville, Va., Kenny Towns had two hits, including a homer, and drove in five, and Thomas Woodruff went 4 for 5 with three runs and an RBI as Virginia hammered James Madison. Adam Haseley had three hits, four runs and an RBI, and Daniel Pinero added two hits, three runs and an RBI for the Cavaliers (20-12). Kyle Weston went 2 for 4 with a run for the Dukes (12-18).
