Martin Leads
Florida past UVa, Forces Saturday Game

In
Omaha, Neb., Richie Martin (right) went 3 for 4 with two
doubles and two RBI as No. 4 Florida defeated Virginia 10-5
Friday afternoon in the College World Series at TD Ameritrade
Park.
Both teams have one loss in CWS play and will
meet on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT to determine which team advances
to face Vanderbilt in the CWS Championship Series.
The Cavaliers (41-23) plated the game’s first
run in the top of the first as Adam Haseley had a leadoff
single, was sacrificed to second by Daniel Pinero and scored
on a base hit by Matt Thaiss.
The Gators (52-17) took the lead for good in
the third. Harrison Bader had an RBI groundout, Martin drilled
a run-scoring double, Josh Tobias added an RBI single and JJ
Schwarz scored on a passed ball as UF took a 4-1 lead.
Florida put the game away with five in the
sixth. Martin had an RBI single to cap the rally.
Mike Rivera had two hits and two RBI, Bader
knocked in two and Schwarz had two hits and two runs for the
Gators.
Logan Shore (11-6, 6.1 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 4 K)
earned the victory.
Thaiss and Kenny Towns
both drove in two for the Cavaliers.
