Finnegan Pitches TCU Past Pepperdine

ULL outscores Ole Miss, Texas tops Houston to advance to CWS

 

#7 TCU 3, Pepperdine 2

Brandon Finnegan and two relievers combined on a five-hitter as TCU edged Pepperdine in the first game of the Fort Worth Super Regional to extend their win streak to 10. Finnegan (9-3) worked 6.1 innings with three hits, two runs, two walks and seven strikeouts. Trey Teakell allowed two hits in one innings before Riley Ferrell fanned four of the final five batters for his 15th save. Derek Odell had two hits, including a two-run single in the fourth, to lead the offense for the Horned Frogs (46-15). Chris Fornaci (2 for 4) had a two-run homer in the seventh for the Waves (42-17).

 

#6 Louisiana-Lafayette 9, Ole Miss 5

Tyler Girouard had a three-run homer to highlight a five-run third as Louisiana-Lafayette outscored Ole Miss to kick off the Lafayette Super Regional. Girouard finished with two hits and three runs, while Seth Harrison added two hits and one RBI for the Ragin' Cajuns (58-8). Austin Robichaux (8-3, 7 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 3 BB, 4 K) picked up the win. Braxto Lee and Auston Bousfield both had two hits and one RBI for the Rebels (44-19).

 

Texas 4, Houston 0

Parker French tossed six scoreless innings as Texas blanked Houston to win the Austin Super Regional and advance to the College World Series for the 35th time. French (6-5) allowed five hits and two walks. He and three relievers did not strike out a batter. C.J. Hinojosa (2 for 4) had a two-run single to spark a four-run fourth for the Longhorns (43-19). Josh Vidales had three hits for the Cougars (48-18), who stranded 14.
