Oregon State is Coaches' Pick

 

Oregon State, the No. 1 national seed in the NCAA College Baseball Tournament, is the pick of college baseball coaches to win the national championship, according to a survey by CollegeBaseballInsider.com.

 

Twenty-eight Division I head baseball coaches responded with their picks for the eight teams to reach the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. The Beavers, who won national titles in 2006 and 2007, were chosen by 24 coaches to reach Omaha. Nine of the 19 coaches who submitted picks for national champion chose Oregon State.

 

Other teams chosen to dogpile in Omaha were TCU (3), Virginia (2), LSU (2), Indiana, Louisiana-Lafayette and Florida State.

 

The eight teams most liked to reach the College World Series were: Oregon State (24), LSU (23), Virginia (20), TCU (17), Florida State (16), Florida (15), Vanderbilt (14) and Miami (11). Of note, national seeds Indiana (4) and Louisiana-Lafayette (6) received eight and nine votes, respectively.

 

Other teams receiving votes included: Ole Miss (10), Louisville (6), Cal Poly (5), South Carolina (5), Kentucky (3), Mississippi State (3), Oregon (3), Rice (3), Washington (2), Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona State, Cal State Fullerton, Nebraska, Sam Houston State, San Diego State and Texas.
