Seven-run second sparks Kansas past BYU

Northern Colorado edges Omaha in 10, Hawaii defeats Wichita State

 

In Provo, Utah, Jacob Boylan had a two-run single in a seven-run second as Kansas rolled past BYU 15-4 Thursday. Boylan had two hits, including a double, and three RBI, while Justin Protacio went 4 for 5 with a double, two runs and one RBI for the Jayhawks (14-7), under head coach Ritch Price (left). Frank Duncan (2-2, 8 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 4 K) picked up the win. Jacob Hannemann (2 for 3, R) and Bret Lopez (2 for 4, R) both had a double for the Cougars (10-12).

 

Northern Colorado 13, Omaha 12 (10)

In Greeley, Colo., Dylan Banach had a game-winning run-scoring single to cap a two-run rally in the bottom of the 10th as Northern Colorado edged Omaha at Jackson Field. Jensen Park had two doubles, two runs and three RBI, while Ryan Yamane (2B, 2 R) and Nick Miller (3 R, 2 RBI) both had three hits for the Bears (5-11). Eian Raeber (1-1, 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 2 K) earned the victory. Alex Mortensen (4 for 6, 2 R, 1 RBI) and Brett Bass (2 for 7, 2 R, 2 RBI) both had two doubles for the Mavericks (5-10).

 

Hawaii 7, Wichita State 3

In Honolulu, Conner George had three hits and three RBI to lead Hawaii past Wichita State in front of 2,820 fans at Les Murakami Stadium. George had a two-run single in the third and a RBI base hit in a three-run fifth for the Rainbows (4-15). Kaeo Aliviado (2B, 2R) and Marc Flores (2 2B, 2 RBI) both had three hits for UH. Corey MacDonald (2-2, 6.2 IP, 11 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 7 K) earned the victory, while Jon Flinn (2.1 IP, 1 H, 1 K) recorded his first save. Tyler Baker had two hits and two RBI for the Shockers (11-10).

 

Dartmouth 11, Bradley 8

In Winter Haven, Fla., Nick Lombardi went 3 for 5 with two doubles, a triple and three RBI as Dartmouth outscored Bradley. The Big Green (9-1) erased an early 2-0 deficit with a four-run third to take the lead for good. Ennis Coble had two hits and two RBI for Dartmouth. Cole Sulser (2-0, 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 7 K) registered the victory, while Thomas Olson (0.1 IP, 1 H) notched his fourth save. Max Murphy (3 for 5) and Tyler Leffler (4 for 5, 2B) both drove in three for the Braves (8-10).

 

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 8, Houston-Victoria 6

In Victoria, Texas, Eric Weiss and Jonathan Gonzales had consecutive homers in the top of the third as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won at Houston-Victoria. A three-run third by the Islanders (12-9) gave the visitors a 6-1 advantage. Weiss and Brandon Tierney (2 for 4) both drove in two. AJ Longoria (1-0) tossed two hitless innings in relief to earn the victory, while Jacob Dorris struck out the side in the ninth for his fourth save. Josh Ledesma had two hits and three RBI for the Jaguars (9-17).
